Is this legal? I hear that Microsoft has some really good lawyers, and I never want to tangle with them. Don't worry about a lawsuit.
Worry about what that 'FREE!' Compiler might do to you system. Do you really want to execute that much machine code, no sources available, from an untrusted source? Get FirstBasic.
It's only $25. Feed 'BASIC compiler' to your favorite search engine and sift through the million-odd hits for some free implementations. None of them is QB, but some have features that QB lacks. If it's spam, it's a scam. Don't do business with Net abusers. Francisco Abarca, 0:00 น.

The only lawyer you have to worry about is your own conscience and common sense. Common sense and my conscience tell me to avoid any such 'free' downloads. I'd hate to see my own work stolen and given away for free. I won't do it to them, either.

We're talking about Quick Basic 4.5. There is a huge difference. QBasic is just a little toy subset of the Quick Basic IDE that Microsoft started giving away beginning with DOS 5.0, just to replace GWBASIC.
And besides, Microsoft has not given away all rights to QBasic by giving it away free. Just try relabelling it and selling it as something else, and you'll find out real quick that Microsoft is still quite protective of it. Jdm Catclaw, 0:00 น. Get FirstBasic. It's only $25. Wuzup everybody. First of all, there's no free Qb on that site. Now second, Steve. You never stop trying to sell your shit, huh? I think everybody heard enough about your FirstBasic. No, because you work on PowerBasic doesn't mean you gotto tell us all, all days long, 'Get FirstBasic'. Cut that shit bro.
And, well, parts of QB 4.5 is actually free for download. The diffrence is that not all of the doc's follow this free version. Get it at: Iman Mirbloki Caddy Softwares [email protected], 0:00 น. Even if MS gives one or both away free, that doesn't give you or I that right.
We have to have permission, unless it is 'public domain.' But then, it isn't really just a legal issue. If I give my own work away, that's my choice. But that doesn't mean you can give it away. If Microsoft gives QBASIC 1.1 away, that doesn't mean that someone completely unrelated can give away Quick BASIC 4.5 or even give away the identical program that MS gives away. Even though Microsoft quit selling QuickBasic 4.5 (and I myself DO have a legally purchased copy) eons ago, so far as I understand (I am not a lawyer) it is still their property. Just because they no longer sell it does not mean that it is in the public domain and up for free grabs. It may still be illegal to acquire it if one does not purchase an otherwise legal copy. That is what intellectual property law is all about.
So far as I know, something like FreeBasic is (more or less) compatible with QuickBasic 4.5 and also has extensions and works on later platforms. And again, so far as I know, FreeBasic really is (legally) free. Don't be a pirate. Paul Bartlett Yuhler G, 11:45 น.

Well, let's tackle that one plot point at a time: 1. It appears that you want a modern BASIC that'll work under Windows 10 (and presumably both older and future versions as well).
You want one that is more or less compatible with QuickBASIC 4.5. (I recommend not developing with QB due to the lack of DOS support in 64-bit systems.) You specifically do.not. want QB64 (and really, I don't blame you). The best answer I can give you is FreeBASIC: Compatible with versions of Microsoft BASIC at least as old as GW-BASIC (using appropriate compiler switches). If you really want to use QuickBASIC, and you're running a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll need to run DOS (or a 32-bit version of Windows) in an emulator. There are a number of free emulators around; I use VMware Player, but there's also Virtual PC, VirtualBox, Bochs, DOSBox, Qemu, and a host of others. Google can help you find one As for a free DOS, there's FreeDOS.or DR-DOS: If you want a free, legal 32-bit Windows, you'll have to settle for ReactOS, which has never made it past 'alpha' despite.20 years.
of development: (All of this assumes you already have QuickBASIC.) 2. 'who writes this shit?' You claim to be a programmer; answer that one yourself. Reset to factory settings via a jumper (or whatever): Some PC manufacturers include a hidden 'restore' partition that will do what you want. (How you access said partition is manufacturer-dependant.) Others include a restore disk, although I understand that's becoming rather rare. If you put your computer together (and I'm guessing you didn't), you would need to erase the drive and reinstall Windows and all apps yourself. Not difficult, but tedious and time-consuming (and requires install media for Windows and all the programs).
You mention not wanting to care about the risks of modern computing. You must, or else you.WILL. end up with every virus on earth bogging your computer down and likely performing criminal activities that.will. affect you. There are numerous free antivirus programs available; I use AVG Free, but there are others that are just as good (or better). Google can help you find one. In the future, I suggest putting blank lines between paragraphs as I have.
This will vastly improve the readability of your posts. They never ran out of courage. But in the end, they ran out of time. [email protected] 4/2/2018, 1:05 น.

It can run under nearly all versions of and 32-bit versions of, or through emulation via / on, and 64-bit versions of Windows. (QBasic is a DOS program and requires DOS or a DOS emulator. Windows XP comes with an emulator called DOS Virtual Machine, subsequent versions of Windows require an emulator such as DosBox.) For its time, QBasic provided a state-of-the-art IDE, including a with features such as on-the-fly expression evaluation and code modification. It supports various inbuilt functions. Like QuickBASIC, but unlike earlier versions of Microsoft BASIC, QBasic is a language, supporting constructs such as., a concept often associated with BASIC, are supported for compatibility, but are not considered good form, having been replaced by descriptive. QBasic has limited support for user-defined data types , and several primitive types used to contain strings of text or numeric data. Contents.

Starting with, Microsoft no longer includes QBasic with their operating systems, but can still be obtained for use on newer versions of Windows. QBasic (as well as the built-in ) is backwards-compatible with DOS releases prior to 5.0 (down to at least DOS 3.20). However, if used on any / computers, or on some computers, the QBasic program may run very slowly, or perhaps not at all, due to DOS memory size limits. Until MS-DOS 7, MS-DOS Editor and Help required QBasic: the EDIT.COM and HELP.COM programs simply started QBasic in editor and help mode only, and these can also be entered by running QBASIC.EXE with the /EDITOR and /QHELP switches (i.e., command lines QBASIC /EDITOR and QBASIC /QHELP).
Examples QBasic came complete with four pre-written example programs. It is best done on an old PC (preferably one with a working, with the switch on to slow the CPU to 4.77 MHz) or in an emulator like or which can be slowed down.
